Baruch Hashem, we're delighted to share that following intensive efforts by the administration, we’ve paid all salaries and stipends in full and in a timely fashion for the past months.
Despite these wonderful achievements, our Hanhalah and amalei Torah are still contending with a dark cloud of debt. Throughout a period of 9 difficult months (3/4 of a year!) we were unable to pay salaries and stipends, and although it is already an old debt, it is a lingering debt that weighs heavily on everyone’s shoulders, demanding to be repaid. Imagine one month without a salary, and then two; it’s challenging, but manageable. Three months: It’s time to start tightening the belt. Four months… five… six… Nine months.
A kollel yungeman’s monthly stipend amounts to a paltry 2,000 shekels, which is hardly enough to support a family, but still a vital addition to the family’s income. When the same yungeman does not receive this stipend for 9 months straight, he’s short 18,000 shekels and forced to borrow money in order to purchase basic provisions. Many yungeleit borrowed this sum—which is astronomical for a family living on a tight kollel budget—with the confidence that this debt would soon be paid. Now, many months later and with the money still far from materializing, they’re caught in a vortex of debt.
The total debts to our Rabbanim and yungeleit amount to over 3 million shekels! And now, during these Ymei Din V’Rachamim, we’re offering you the deal of a lifetime—a beit. Let’s switch!
With your help, all these chovos, all these debts, can transform into zechuyos! Every debt that we repay to our Rabbanim and yungeleit transforms into an unfathomable zechus for the one who repays it! This is tzedakah in its purest form, tzedakah that becomes pure zechuyos, and the one who seizes as many zechuyos as possible will earn the greatest defense on the imminent Yom Hadin.
